Anyone play the Nintendo Famicom game?

You could play as Kong...or play as Kong!

It was known as King Kong 2 and produced by Konami, and it was not sold in the US. I imagine it will be the only game ever released for this franchise.

You play as a gorilla not named Donkey Kong or Donkey Kong Jr. or Diddy Kong.

I wonder if Nintendo was still pissed about being sued over Donkey Kong by Universal when Universal didn't even own the rights to King Kong. Maybe they didn't license it for the US because they didn't want to create any excitement for that character. Universal did add Kong to their Universal Studios Hollywood Tram Tour in 86.

I don't think Konami was allowed to release it to other systems in the US because Nintendo had everyone by the gorilla sack back in the NES days.

It could be played on the NES by using a converter. It would try it but I'm afraid the old NES might be leaking radiation.

Yeah, I have the rom and it's not too bad of a game. Plays a little bit like an RPG, but not too much. King Kong as well as a stage based on this game was also featured in Wai Wai World for the Famicom.
