Anyone else think this should've been voted as the worst sequel?
Since 'Staying Alive' won the award for worst sequel, does anyone else here think they made a mistake?

"The 1976 "King Kong" has it's moments, but was regarded by most as a bad remake."King Kong Lives" was worse than the 1976 remake, but there wasn't a decrease in quality as big as in the Travolta "epics"."
Actually, Queen Kong, made in 1976, and had only a limited release, was/is the worse sequel of them all.
Sorry, but that's not true, and you are just another person buying into this urban legend. The '76 Kong was a huge hit and stayed in the theater for months, it made a ton of money and was very popular.
It was just the "official" critics who attacked it, but the fans loved it, I know, I was around then, it was everywhere at the time and brought King Kong back into the consciousness of the average American, later in the early 80's it started playing on TV yearly and had great ratings and all kinds of toys, cups, etc followed.
My vote goes to SUPERMAN RETURNS.
"From thy wedding with the creature who touches Heaven, lady God preserve thee..." - KING KONG
Yeah Marisa_girl you're insane. The worst sequel is Batman & Robin.

Regardless, "Superman Returns" is STILL worse than "King Kong Lives."

I don't know if there is some special director's cut of King Kong Lives that you must have seen because if you saw the same pile of garbage I saw than there is no way it is better than Superman Returns. Superman is actually a good movie. King Kong is a hundred times worse.
share"Superman is actually a good movie."
SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE is an excellent movie; SUPERMAN RETURNS is dreadful.

I love you Marisa, for pulling that great line from King Kong 1976. That movie still holds my heart and mind, 40 years later. It's simultaneously infatuating and infuriating. What might have been...
"The psychologists call him a psychopath. They don't know what else to call him."
Worst sequel ever is Matrix Reloaded and the even more horrible 3rd part. If you've seen them, you know why both of those are the worst sequels ever created.
shareYes, I agree. Matrix Revolutions was a crock. Haven't seen King Kong Lives, but can't see how it could be worse. BTW, co-screenwriter of KKL, Stephen Pressfield, is very funny talking about the movie in his book, The War of Art.

How could you possilbly expect them to remember this movie?
shareEver heard of Caddyshack II...
shareI guess noone has seen Jaws: The Revenge?
How about Hellraiser II?
What about Amityville Dollhouse or even Amityville 3D?
Dont get me wrong...King Kong Lives is pretty bad, though it is mildly entertaining...In parts.

I read all the posts here, and I have to throw in my two cents:
The absolute WORST sequel of all time (and perhaps the worst film of all time as well) is TROLL 2.
But the honor of worst sequel in comparison to the outstanding quality of the first film would have to go to THE SECRET OF NIMH 2: THIS CRAP MOVIE SUCKS HUGE HAIRY STINKY BALLS (at least, I think that's the title, but it might be something else. I'm too lazy to look it up, though).
