shareThat is a little harsh, this film may not be for everyone. It is possibly the oddest film I have seen and I've seen many weird films.
Personally I really enjoyed it, despite being a slow reader and struggling with the subtitles a bit.

Well, a direct question demands a direct answer.
Kin-Dza-Dza is most fun if you ask yourself if you know people or situations that are in one way or another similar to that what is shown on screen.
It's most fun then if you do this for the first time.
There are hillarious moments covering the whole way of the movie. There are also some more philosophical jokes, like for example lying by thinking "You thought bad moves for me!" or "What idiot thinks the truth on Plyuk?" That is an awesome joke over the effect of repression.
Ask yourself, when they land on this airless home planet of Uef and Bee and Bee finally states, well, you're too young to understand that or when he starts talking about having a Ziel (aim... so, the russians stole this word from the germans...) in life, I mean, that is applicable to our world, or isn't it?
Yeah, most likely you are missing something. Or, rather, you were expecting something else from the movie. It's quite hard to understand, since it doesn't quite fit into any of the popular genres. You can't approach older russian movies the same way you approach modern holywood blockbusters or indie stuff.
Same way as you can't read Charles Dickens novels and expect them to be like Harry Potter.
