Does it annoy anyone else that by the 2nd movie, he's still a big wimp?

a big wimp who doesn't fight back, gets hit once and falls to the ground, hits people in the groin, etc.. Not to mention he usually instigates these fights with petty insults, taunting his enemy.

I was expecting Daniel to call out for Miyagi in a southern belle voice, "Help Miyagi, Save me, save me!"

If the Hooded Claw, I mean Terry silver, had tied him to a railway track in part 3 he might have.

You're old enough to kill, but not for voting....

Yes, it annoys many of us. It's one reason why we root for the Cobra Kai, Chozen, and Sato.

reply

Yes he hit a guy in the groin. That's a good move the target was open so why not. In street fights anything goes. In karate the groins a major target

reply

I was in tae kwon do for 3 years and I never learned any groin strikes =\

reply

Really?
You must never have been taught knife hand strike. Guess you did sport Tae Kwon Do and never learned any kata (form).

It wasnt me, it was the other three. Hang them!

How about that he's even worse on part III, when he was just coming off the fight to the death vs Chozen?
He acted like a complete buffoon and wimp around Barnes, who wasn't that much more advanced than Johnny and certainly not better than Chozen! Such a plot hole among the two sequels.

So: a realistic, down to earth show..which is completely off the wall swarming with magic robots?!

In fairness to Daniel he gained about 50 pounds and lost his stamina. He couldn't even keep up with Jessica on a light jog. A real shame for a defending champion.

Yeah taekwondo is a load of bs jumping kicks that'd get your ass kicked in a real fight

Yes, I started a similar thread over on the boards of Part I. Compare Daniel to Rocky. Rocky always faces intimidating opponents, but once he gets his head in the game and trains hard you want to cheer for him because he's got the "eye of the tiger" despite always being the underdog. Daniel is a deer in the headlights when he faces an opponent. You never get the sense that he has toughened up after all that training with Miagi.

In Part III, when the goons raid the bonsai shop and Daniel knees the guy with the mullet in the gut and throws him into some wood planks, I used to point out to everyone that that was the only time Daniel wins a fight without some kind of gimmick.
