Siskel and Ebert Review of The Hitcher

Skip to 05:52 for their review of The Hitcher. If you're a fan of the movie (like me) you might not want to watch it because they really roasted it!

I completely agree with their review. I hated this movie!

Siskel was way harder on horror films than Ebert ever was. Siskel didn't even like Silence of the Lambs, Aliens, or The Terminator. That's how hard he was on films that had any horror in them. I do think Siskel has some valid points here though. I do like the film alot, but it is pretty depressing, and it is non stop violence from start to finish.

Yeah I was fine with the violence, but the dark tone was kind of putting, in that regard I think the remake was actually an improvement, because it wasn't quite as relentlessly downbeat.

I happen to think that's part of what made the original great, but we'll have to disagree I guess. I just know that Sean Bean couldn't even touch the performance Rutger Hauer gave.
