artificial insemination

Did I miss something? Did that couple decide to let the insemination happen or were all 4 kid's adopted? I feel like I missed a line or something. And what did Carol mean by "analyst"? That whole scene was just so confusing and out of place.
Oh and woody allen doesn't pay child support....? Are none of the kid's his or does he skip child support because they are not biologically "his" -- again, so much confusion over all this, I feel like it's a huge part of Hannah's "needs" but they are never explored... purposefully? Or did I just miss it?

it seems like Hannah is the forever caretaker. she's the one with the most money, most grounded, most succesful, most giving, etc. she seems to ask nothing of anybody, which may be why people lose attraction for her but always respect her?

You must have missed something, since it is stated later in the film that they did in fact go through with the artificial insemination, and that Mickey's kids with Hannah are from Mickey's partner's sperm.

Carol meant "psychoanalyst". I think we're to assume that Mickey is "off the hook" for child support since the kids aren't really his.

I don't know whether he didn't have to give her child support because they're not biologically his - surely they were legally his and he decided to bring them into the world as much as she did and so would be legally required to help pay for the kids. I thought it was just an unofficial agreement between him and Hannah - she had more than enough money to pay for the kids herself and so didn't need his support. I would hope that he would be required to contribute if she couldn't afford it!
