what kind of car was it?
I'm really curious to find out what kind of car they used in the making of this movie?

According to this website, it was a FIAT Regata.
shareMost of the factory cars were Fiat Regatas, there were a few Fiat 127s mixed in (the small two-door hatchbacks in the scene where Saito and Sakamoto are counting to 15,000 cars. A mistake IMO- the 127 was launched in 1971 and far too dated to pass for a new 1986 model Japanese-designed car as most of those had a complete model change every 4 years then.)
The cars the Assan executives arrive in are Dodge Omnis or Plymouth Horizons (only difference between the two was the grille, these were disguised with "Assan" grilles. I wonder if this was a pickup shot filmed after the Fiats were re-exported or destroyed because of nonconformance with U.S. EPA and NHTSA rules)
Finally, a Dodge Charger (then-current FWD model, the coupe version of the Omni) was used on the poster and the original VHS boxart.
*The only true currency in this world is what you share with someone else when you're uncool.*
I haven't seen this film, but there are screenshots and comments on the Internet Movie Car Database:

According to the resident Fiat experts, the factory scenes were filmed at a site in Argentina where the Regata (or Regatta as it was called there) was made. The producers probably didn't ship any of the Fiats to the US, precisely because they would not comply with US regulations, so they had to use a different car to serve as the "Assan" in other scenes.
Nlpnt,
This has nothing to do with the movie or the car but that's a very insightful sig you have!
I just wish that we weren't beyond all hope, otherwise if more people would heed that mentality we'd all be a lot better off!
I often find that you can tell much more about someobe when they're not able to "keep their cool" then when they are...because it shows who a person truly is when they're under some kind of stress.
Thanks; it's from "Almost Famous", one of the things Lester Bangs said to the main-character-who's-really-Cameron-Crowe-as-a-kid.
I'm just glad IMDB doesn't update signatures on previous posts as I've changed to one from "Super Size Me" :)
I could be strung out on ham for days!
