I can't remember...

Does Michael Keaton apologize to his wife for telling her to shut up?

reply

In the car on the drive home from dinner, I never heard the words I'm sorry. He still appears to be trying to finesse his way out of saying, "Shut up."

reply

In fact, he adds insult to injury by asking if it's her time of the month, and which point she demands to be let out of the car.

reply

No he never does actually apologize for that, although it seems to be understood when she takes him back after he confesses to all his mishandlings in front of the townspeople.

However, one might be able to make the argument (as sexist and demeaning as it may sound), that he had the 'right' to tell her to shut up.

She intruded herself into a business matter between employer(s) and employee, regarding a company for which she didn't work. Hunt did ask her to leave and she refused, citing the excuse that because the company's matters involved workers who lived in the town, that she had the right, as a fellow townsperson, to listen in on what could have been a private personal or business matter.

After all, when your boss invites you to his home for dinner, and then wants to talk to you privately afterwards about your job performance, does your significant other stay there, or is the matter supposed to be strictly confidential between the company people only?

reply

Compound to that, that she was just his girlfriend...NOT his wife. Shut up was a little harsh, but she was totally out of place, she really should have left with the wives.

another minor but notable thing to mention is that audrey walked home after hunt randomly mentioned heather, who is presumably hunt's ex. that understandably turned her off further. hunt never does apologize but its clear he was pretty humbled and defeated at the end of the fair, after he opened up in front of the town.,she had gotten over their fight and all was good. it was clear they cared for one another very much.
