Wondering if Ratigan officially has an inferiority complex...

About being a rat, I mean? Either he hates being reminded of being a rat because he wants to be viewed as a mouse and a more civilized creature, or he thinks he's above other rats because he doesn't think that they are intelligent as he is and won't be associated.

Been thinking about this for a little while now, thoughts anyone? It's clear that he has some sort of complex, or he wouldn't get so worked up about the dreaded 'R' word.

Ratigan is a sewer rat, and that's not a very respectable title in Victorian London's high society. He's in denial of what he is, and would rather blend in with the upper world of mice.

Also, Ratigan was a large mouse in the original Eve Titus books. By changing him to a rat in the Disney film, it makes him more of a character struggling with the acceptance of what he is, thus causing those crazy outbursts.
