You should hate this movie as they totally cancelled out the planned storyline to have Tommy Jarvis be the new "Jason". I consider all installments after Part V to be illegitimate and non-canon.
shareI've always liked this film, though not as much as some. This is something of a fan favorite for many.
For me it lacks the sexuality of previous (and later) entries, I'm not the biggest fan of the more comedic approach and I prefer human Jason over zombie Jason.
Friday the 13th 1-5 & Freddy vs Jason are my favorites.
I'd also probably take 7 and the 2009 reboot over this film.
It feels more like 26 years old.
Shaving a decade off still doesn't make this one a particularly new film
