Will this never end?

Sorry to quote C-3P0 there but it needed to be said.

Have any of these remakes came out? I haven't heard of any of them.

reply

Sadly, it's true. They are all slated for remakes. Just look them up and you'll see. There's more too. Their remaking "Arthur". Huge mistake!! There is no way this will be good.

Well, I was wondering more if these had come out. A lot of stuff is toyed around with but never really gets off the ground. For something to never end, it also has to start and I haven't caught wind of too many remakes that are based on something other than a different media form than what the remake is going to be (tv series, cartoon, etc. -> feature film) or is simply drawing from a franchise that didn't originate with the "original film" in the first place (Batman, LotR).

Don't be too sure that this won't be done. Hollywood has proved time and time again that they are relentless in their pursuit to remake everything. The 1980's gave us a lot of good film. For some insane reason, it makes more sense for them to have a 20 million dollar budget for CGI then it does to spend a quarter of a million (perhaps a bit more) on a good writer. This will be remade, just wait.

I'm not justifying remakes at all (I'll always opt for an original movie), but I firmly believe that every story has been told, but it's the way you tell it that matters. The Thing was a remake and one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. The difference is whether the studios are remaking it for quick cash (which I am utterly against) or someone is inspired on how to re-tell the story.

Either way, I loved Flight of the Navigator as a child, but trying to rewatch it recently was like pulling teeth. While my love for Monster Squad and Harry and the Hendersons remained intact, this one lost its magic for me. I wouldn't mind seeing a modern re-interpretation of it, but unfortunately, we'll probably get a crappier CG knock-out instead.

Oh, and on a side note, the remake of They Live has been cancelled, despite what IMDB is still claiming.

yeah and the Karate Kid remake looks Godawful

back in 98 I did a titty comedy for Skinemax. Sex Camp, ya remember it?

THE BREAKFACT CLUB!?!? No, they can't! John Hughes is dead (may he rest in peace) and I honestly do not think that anyone else can convey the kind of emotions he did. John Hughes knew how write about teenaged emotions in a way that I have not seen replicated by anyone else. I would hate to see a remake :(

I'd like to see a reamke & sequel to it myself, if John Hughes son(s) were to maybe take up directorial reins from good ol' Dad. Here's what my friends & I said would make it work out for us:

* Have it start out as a High School Reunion, with AT LEAST Judd Nelson & Molly Ringwald reprising their roles - perhaps we find out that they became successful somehow. Bender changed his ways & became a lawyer & Claire became a fashion designer or something (anything might work), and they had a daughter who became rebellious & acted how John did in the original & currently goes to the H.S. they're having the reunion at.

*Emilio Estevez's character, Andrew Clark, has a daughter who is a cheerleader that is just a sports junkie & supports the schools many team sports & somehow gets in trouble.

*find a decent equivalent to the late great Paul Gleason, who was good when he made fun of himself in "NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE" & spoofed his scenes from THE BREAKFAST CLUB.

Perhaps cast new unknowns for 1 or more children of the original cast (as said above). and somehoe recreat the same sort of feelings & emotions that the original was famous for.

Maybe even have the possible ending of having a cameo by an orignial CLUB member picking up their child, and saying, "Yeah, I remember when I went through the same thing" or something.

OR, best bet would be to just to not mess around with a classic.
