Original 'Navigator' script's ending was much better:

In the final cut, the kid insists to Max that he wants to take the chance at traveling back to 1978, there's that trippy time travel/lightning scene, he wakes up in the forest, and then when he gets home he sees his 1978 family waiting for him, happy ending, etc.

It's a little known fact that this was a last minute reshot tacked-on ending after preview screenings of the original ending were unenthusiastic. As originally shot, Max and David go back in time, time travel/lightning scene, David wakes up in the forest, and starts walking. He's going through the woods happily, thinking he's made it back to his own time, when he hears a noise in some bushes. Thinking it's his younger brother trying to scare him again, David goes towards the noise, only to come face to face with a band of filthy grunting Neanderthals. Screaming incoherently, they viciously stab him to death with sharpened sticks and then take turns sodomizing his mangled corpse. The last shot of the movie is Max hovering over this scene saying, "Oops, went back too far!"

No, dude. You're getting this script confused with the script for the adult film "Flight of the Stabinator."

Makes sense though, would give the film a much more darker edge.

damn Hollywood suits always ruining a director's vision!

back in 98 I did a titty comedy for Skinemax. Sex Camp, ya remember it?

That was so funny! Laughed even more when Max gave that cheesey line that, totally works in context, though albeit very black humor in this post. Never thought i'd laugh at pedo-necrophiliac gay rape lol

David dying would ruin the film, i like it the way it is,but to made some more drama,i'd make David go a bit too far back and he's being chased by a dangerous person and he gets back intot he ship just barely escaping and Max takes him back to 1978 and the films goes as the end goes

reply

no. This end makes more sense as David would still be missing, then 8 years after David went missing he returns and the film events take place, then there'd be no paradox with future David returning to a home already occupied by the David that returned.

"sir, sir, i gotta check and see if you've soiled yourself, I'll get to you in a moment, sir!"
