Missing scene on DVD?

Hi sorry if this has been previously brought up, but I saw this when it originally aired in it's two part form on the Disney Sunday Movie (anyone remember that?) and it was one of my favorite movies for a long time. I got it on DVD a few years back and remember in the first scene where he's playing frisbee with the dog, and the dog can't catch it? I know in the original airing that there is a scene with Jeff in the park and the dog has become a pro at catching the frisbee.

I haven't watched the DVD in a year or so, but I'm sure that scene is not on the DVD, but I know I saw it as it showed the dog catching the frisbee in slow motion while teenage Jeff threw it in the park. Anyone else remember this, or was it on the DVD and I just missed it?

It's on the DVD, but the scene takes place at the house before David calls to his parents from NASA.
