Why the crap do I see 'Flight of the navigator '2011????????

God please don't let it be true. Hollywood screwing up another classic because they can't come up with anything original anymore.

Come on, can't you hear the Jonas Brothers singing along to that theme playing over the end credits?

"Fly-ing, flying high so high in a space-ship."

Or...what if Frankie Jonas is given the role of David, a boy who just wants to have a successful music career, but that's sacrificed when he is sent into the future by Maxx.

"HAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMM!!!!"

Load of rubbish!
They should make the original 3D & release that instead!

I'd like a remake because other than us and people who saw the film at the cinema or on TV during the 90s people have forgotten completly about this movie. It would be good because with all of the remakes now they always re-release the original on a special edition DVD and then people would be interested in that and maybe some people might mistake it as the remake and buy it and it turns out they love it.

rowanlc agree if they keep the plot of the original film and add on to the plot!

Yeah, I share your worry there... I'm afraid that it will become more heavily saturated with type casts, overuse of CGI, and "cheese". Probably to be expected.

On the other hand, I would love to see Disney nudge this slightly in the other direction, by toning down the cheese factor of the original just a peg, i.e., just a hair less of the Pee-Wee Herman type stuff, and maybe bump up the cool factor on those little aliens that were along for the ride.

It could still be totally kid friendly and simultaneously cool enough that parents out there will be happy to play it again and again. WALL-e was a good example of how well this approach works. Every parent I speak to who has seen that movie loved it. And kids do too!

The best of both worlds...

Justin Bieber as david Freeman... nevermind, eww

The reason I need to see this movie again was it's absolutely incredible special effects of that full silver spaceship.

So what can hollywood nowadays deliver else than better effects, and they aren't really better, to make this movie better?

Ah wait.. they don't want to improve it, they just need some money.
Stupid me :/

They can't better this movie. It had character. The best thing they can do is bring back the 80's style movie making!

I will happily embrace a remake if Disney brings Sarah Jessica Parker in for at least a cameo. Doesn't have to be as her Carolyn McAdams character, simply having in for a brief appearance would be a nice homage to the original.

reply

They should just diffuse the original at the cinemas. The kids would not know the year it was made in. Plus, it would be cheaper for Disney.

reply

Well it's now 2011 and I don't see any cast or crew listed for that movie. I don't think it's going to happen.
