I think if they "Re-Make" this they should do it like Tron Legacy,not really Re-Make it just do a sequel where David from the first film is older,he has a son and its the sons journey this time.
Older David tells his son all about Max and Sarah Jessica Parker could be the kids mom.
Pretty much the same story happens,but like someone else suggested go a little farther into the future.Have the kids parents be dead and make it much more complex,but not too far fetched.I think it could be really good if they pick the right kid and director.

Personally I don't like that. In fact, I'd prefer if they gave the character in the remake a different name. I'm happy for them to revisit the concept, but leave my childhood alone thankyouverymuch.

Also, please keep Sarah Jessica Parker out of it. She was fine in the original, but not so great that I'm dying for her to come back.
