If Sara Jessica Parker's character ended up being the girl that David liked at the beginning? It would been much more deeper even if they had a scene with them together at the beginning of the movie. And then he wakes up and she is much more older and helps him out of NASA because she knew him when she was a kid. Again another wasted opportunity of wasted great story telling.

A bit too obvious and implausible. Even as a child, I'd have been rolling my eyes at that.

Yes, especially implausible....you know this movie is about a punk kid who gets abducted by an alien, flies across the US, evades the government, visits other galaxies & time travels; yet that addition is implausible? Come on man, cooommeeee ooonnnnnn
