ELIMINATORS released on this day

Released on this day--31 Jan.--in 1986, pulpy sci-fi/action/adventure cult classic ELIMINATORS. This was an Empire Pictures production, with Charlie Band's regulars at the helm. Directed by Peter Manoogian, written by Paul De Meo and Danny Bilson and starring Patrick Reynolds, a pre-STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION Denise Crosby, Andrew Prine and Conan Lee as a disparate team of heroes who come together to battle a time-traveling, would-be world-conquering mad scientist played, with much hammy relish, by Roy Dotrice.

Band was a huge Marvel comics fan, and like a lot of his movies, ELIMINATORS is VERY comic-book. Scale-wise, it was quite ambitious for a b-movie company--maybe the biggest movie Band ever produced. It was meant to be the first in a series, which, unfortunately, never happened.
