So what evil entity was to blame this time?? The apartment? The TV?

So in the first film the outbreak started by the woman putting on the mask. Apparently everything was taken care of after the first and the outbreak was contained successfully. The theater however was the evil entity that made everything happen. It was conscious. It could block doors, lock doors, open them if it wants. For instance it opened the door for the punks to come in and get killed.

However in the 2nd one It's just one random apartment building and they're showing a film based after the events from the first and then all of a sudden a demon comes out of a television set and infects a girl. Then the demon that infected her seems to just disappear after the girl is infected as well and there you have it, another demon outbreak starting with the girl!

The way the mayhem started in the 2nd one just really didn't make much sense. It makes sense in the first because people are tricked into going to an evil place which caused the mayhem. But why did this just happen in a random apartment building?

I'm guessing that Television studio at the end had something to do with it but it still doesn't explain anything.

Some have said that the events being shown on the tv were a combination of what happened after the first movie and this movie. You can see the alley behind the theater with the car. but before then, they find a claw. A claw that we later see being cut from the demon baby.

I wish they had officially done part 3 and told the origin. What little of the origin story remains in The Church. I had read that the beginning of part 3 would have revealed the origin, then the movie would have gone into a new story.

the start of The Church reveals that witches were executed and buried under holy seals and churches were built over them. During the movie, the seal is broken and people become demonically influenced instead of possessed. Changes that had to be made to avoid being sued. Bava did not want Argento to do another sequel, so the original story had to be changed. The theater in the first movie resembled a church. Don't know what to think of the apartment building. but the buildings and the demons were obviously using the theater and the tv studio to bring themselves into our world.

There are rumors that they had originally thought of having the baby turn into a demon at the end of the movie, but instead decided to go with the happy ending, so to speak.
