Extended 'Basketball' Scene on DVD

I just got my DVD in the mail today and watched it! It's a beautiful clean transfer and, as I never would have expected, an extended scene of the basketball to the head! It's a few seconds longer than the VHS release with more blood and head explosion and body walking around. Never saw this before and it's awesome!!!!!

I am buying this on DVD! I saw it for sale and wasn't sure if I should bother. I really enjoyed this film since I was a kid.

Thats actually not true, if your have the WB VHS, its 91 min and the new DVD release is 90 min. The basketball scene stays the same.

I just bought my copy and the scene is extended. I compared it to the other copy of Deadly friend I have. I don't know about the VHS copy, but I had a copy of Deadly friend on DVD from e-bay, (I ordered it a while back). I just bought the new copy of Deadly Friend from the twisted terror collection. I compare the scenes and it is a few seconds longer.

the scene is fantastic for sure. But the new DVD from WB seems to have a sound problem. at the moment the basketball hits the head, the sound drops, almost as if a sound effect is missing. I compared the scene with the one on youtube, and anyone can tell the difference. not the biggest deal in the world as all the blood you could want is there. just a bit annoying to hear thats all. Still one of the greatest unusual gore scenes in 80's horror.

you are wrong........the Box times are never correct anyway. This is an uncut print....Sams dream scene has one extra bloody shot and the basketball is WAY different

I'll get to the point in a sec but does anyone here know who Carnage is? Spidey bad guy?

reply

I thought the scenes were extended. great DVD!

reply

Yeah, Carnage is an arch-nemesis of Spiderman. Alot like Venom because he wears the same alien-suit or something. A very nasty character but smaller than Venom. Why are we discussing this here though?

reply

Sorry I know it's off topic but I just though if he ever appears in a spidey film, should he do something similiar of the basketball kill scene to someone? Only less gory, like you see it in the shadows or something
