Filming Dates?

Does anyone have any information on when Deadly Friend was shot?

I'm assuming it was shot in the spring of 1986, since it came out that October, but I could be wrong.

I guess it was somewhere around that time, perhaps a bit earlier because the film had to have some re-shoots after the studio executives felt it lacked gory scenes.

I'm guessing the reshoots were done in the summer of '86, since that probably would've been when the trailer was released in theaters.

Well I've read an interview with Kristy Swanson where she says she talked with Wes Craven on the re-shoots for Deadly Friend about the fact that she was auditioning for Flowers In The Attic, to which Craven submitted a script but was rejected. Flowers in the attic was filmed around september/october 1986 and i've no idea how much does it take from auditions to actual filming, but i'm guessing months?. Swanson said that it was a long audition process because they had to find actors that looked similar to play brothers & sisters.

Also, was this film re-shoot because of negative test screenings or just because the studio didn't like it? I know Craven had a lot of problems with the studio in this film.

The studio wanted to capitalise on Cravens reputation as a horror director. Warners marketing team discovered he had a large following, so on top of the negative test-screening Warners demanded Bruce Joel Rubin re-write large parts of the script. All of the gore scenes were shot during the re-shoot.

Apparently there is a directors cut with the gore scenes taken out. It's supposed to be the original cut before those *beep* at WB meddled with it.

I just looked up articles on Deadly Friend on the Variety archive site (www.varietyultimate.com), and apparently principal photography began on January 6, 1986. I couldn't find out when it wrapped, but I would guess it was sometime that spring, with reshoots done in the late spring/summer.
