Where is this film set?

If anyone could tell me the city/state or region where this film is supposed to take place, that'd be awesome.

The movie is set in the town of 'Welling', if you look closely during the opening scenes you'll notice a huge sign for 'Welling' which the Conways drive past (aerial shot).

The college classroom & exteriors are at USC in Los Angeles

the neighborhood is a set used in films like The Burbs and also Desperate Housewives. i believe its in the Universal Backlot.

It is the same set where "The Burbs" was filmed, but if you looked at the license plate when Paul pulled out the driveway in the VW van, the plate looked like it had 2 names. For some odd reason I kind of got a sort of East Coast vibe from the actors, but it had to be shot in California.

I know they used the park in Monrovia, Ca. for the running chase and I seem to remember they used Monrovia High school for the exterior of the high school.
