Warner Titles are Discontinued
Warner Bros., the largest entertainment company, also has the largest catalog of DVDs to date. It is unusual for Warner to discontinue their titles without a boxed set, anniversary edition, special edition, or some new fangled version (even if its a change in UPC), they rarely go out of print. But now we are faced with hundreds of classic titles from Warner Brothers and their adopted children, New Line and Turner Home Entertainment, being discontinued from distribution. At quick glance, one will know these are not the most popular titles, but some are classics in their own ways because of heavy weight classical stars like Greta Garbo or John Wayne.

There is discussion at DVDTalk about the future of these titles, but currently no answer. I had originally speculated that these may go their their Archive Collection where they are burned on demand. It is also possible that, like MGM, they may set something similar like putting them on YouTube, or Hulu.com, or work out some contract for downloading with TiVo or Netflix or Blockbuster. Perhaps set up their own streaming service. Any one of them is possible. But there is also the possibility that they will go into boxed sets, or collections, or maybe have UPC changes. And the very possible notion that they are mistakenly listed. Most of the titles, as far as I can tell, are still currently available. If you do your shopping right as well, you can catch some at places like Big Lots (which you can see many already have due to the low third party prices).

I think its interesting in light of recent misadventures of a company who was ordered to destroy a large stock of Warner titles and went behind their backs and sold them to Big Lots. These were titles like Roots, Flintstones season boxed sets, Dukes of Hazzard boxed sets and a few others. When Warner found out that the scrap company they hired to get rid of all the titles, they followed with a lawsuit.

It appears that Warner was already moving towards thinning their stockpile and following that are a load of titles that are being announced as discontinued. I would expect to find more Warner titles at Big Lots coming soon or already there. I know many of us has found the Warner titles with a big scrape through the UPC code, but I personally have also found a great deal of them with just a blank sticker over the UPC. So its worth checking out.

Yes it does!!When i watched the dvd i was amazed the basketball kill was a little longer and more bloody.
