I had been looking for this for 20 years!

I can't describe the feeling of relief I just had recently when I saw this on DVD for $4.99 at Best Buy.

The story is... I love any and all cheesy 80s flicks from my childhood. And for the love of god, anytime I spoke of this "random, scary flick where a girl is half robot, half dead girl and she loves the protagonist and she kills the criminals' mother from The Goonies with a basketball," I was met with blank stares.

Then I see the cover of the DVD and wonder what the movie is, and sure enough, it is the lovely horror pic I have been looking for since 1990.

Anyone else have fond memories of being scared, watching this rerun on WPIX on weekend afternoons in the late 80s into the 90s?

Oh I have fond memories of Deadly Friend as a child. I can remember feeling genuinely upset when Sam is killed (twice). At the time I thought it was a great flick but I was only 13 lol.

Yes ive really had the same exact problem. When i was like 6 years old this movie was on when i was sleeping and i woke up to the lady from the goonies screaming then i seen the girl fire a basketball at her head and it exploded, never been so scared in my life, my older brother was the one watching it and was laughing so hard while i ran to my moms room crying, so this being before u can just hit info on ur remote to find out what movie it is, nobody new what it was whenever i asked anyone about a movie with a ladys head exploding from a basketball for the past 23 years, then i finally thought to go on youtube and search "death by basketball" and there it was, as simple as that 23 years later, i too feel that same relief cause everyone ive asked thought i made it up

I remember looking for this a couple of years ago and read that it wasn't available on dvd. Forgot all about it and earlier this year found it at Big Lots of all places for 3 dollars. Great 80's movie.
