It is good?

No, it is not good. Deadly Friend is one of the worst movies I have seen in a theater.

I think it is very good. It's not your typical horror film. It is a love story and also a nice teenage comedy at first; but once it gets serious, there are some genuinely disturbing moments. I'd say it's one of my Top 3 favorite Wes Craven movies and I don't understand the negative reaction it seems to get.

The idea may have been good--a modern day, young adult take on Frankenstein and zombie tales. The trope that if someone dead is resurrected by unnatural means, results will be unpleasant, is explored, and could also raise all sorts of questions about when full physical death truly occurs. A passable idea questionably executed. It seems to have lost something in the translation. It is entertaining--once--would not watch again--but don't expect too much.
