The Ending

l loved the movie, but WTF is with the ending?! It totally ruined it for me. It doesn't even make sense. Paul only put BB's CPU or whatever into Sam's brain, not rebuilt BB and used Sam's skin. Still, it makes more sense than Weird Science.

It's another example of a decent film which couldn't manufacture an ending for itself. I think Samantha dying (again) in Paul's arms was enough of a satisfactory ending.

reply

I think its just a dream. Even though, that may not be what it really was according to the producers. I'm sure they wanted a cheap 'shock' ending.

reply

yeah, that's basically it. Sure seems like it was a wasste of time, since Samantha was shot already (literally). The ending took a bit away from the film, in my opinion.

reply

Agreed. That cheesy ending is terrible and feels tacked on.

I'm a totally bitchin' bio writer from Mars!

reply

Yes, it seems like they just wanted to insert a twist just for the sake of a twist ending. I think it should've ended right after Samantha was shot. But other than that, I thought it was a great film.

I've been waiting for you, Ben.

It's cheap 80's horror. They didn't give two craps about a decent ending, just a final scare. Even if it was lame and laughed at. It was just a final scene. No one expected it to be a realistic tale... even technology today is still years off coming close to creating anything like the robot prototype... let alone a single microchip that can plug into the brain. And screw that new Morgan Freeman movie, even it is fantasy about what people THINK they might be able to do in the near future. They told us we'd have flying cars and hover-boards by now, I bet we only end up with Pepsi Perfect next year.
