I like this movie

I know so many people hate it. I love the friendship and romance between Paul and Sam. I like love stories in horror movies/novels more than novels/movies wherein the focus is so much on the romance and doesn't have anything else going on.

But I do agree with everyone that the ending really sucked and I know it's not Wes Craven's fault.

I completely agree. The relationship between Paul and Sam was realistic and endearing, it's a pity Warners demanded the addition of senseless violence when the heart of the film is the devotion between the two characters and Pauls refusal to let nature take its course.

We didn't need to see a basketball hurtling through an old ladies head, we didn't need to see Sam throwing a fully grown man in to the path of a car. Don't get me wrong the story requires a certain amount of violence because afterall it's a revenge flick as it is a love story. The ending sucked balls!

I liked this film as well. The friendship between Tom and Paul and the doomed romance between Paul and Sam gave this film a surprisingly strong and effective sense of tragedy and poignancy.

I'm a totally bitchin' bio writer from Mars!

I agree. Labyorteaux and Swanson have great chemistry and keep the film grounded. if it had ended when Sam is shot, it would have been a tragic but more fitting ending than the mess we got.
