Surprisingly Low Score

I've not seen Critters for well, decades now. I'm old enough to remember the poster in the cinema halls. However I'm kind of surprised by the rating, not that 'horror' films ever really score that well, least not those from the 80s with some notable (non-comedy) exceptions, ie. The Thing/Evil Dead, but I do remember this being far more fun than Night of the Comet/Creeps, far better marketted, and in some ways a little bit of a breakthrough, although now I've said that, I'm not sure for what, comedy horror puppets perhaps?

I'm going to go in and watch this again, hoping it won't ruin my teen years hah. If nothing else maybe the puppetry and Galvez and Chiodos' work will carry me through.

well in-between me posting that and getting around to watching it I saw killer klowns (can't believe I hadn't seen this before) and slithers (second viewing - better the second time), anyway I've got to say, Critters is *still* brilliant, great cinematography, perfect timing, the 80s music not-overbearing and the critters themselves are awesome - the kind of puppet you'd want on a shelf in full view somewhere to show off to your friends, almost feel ashamed that it's taken me this long to watch it again.

Did not disappoint, and aged surprisingly well indeed.

I just saw Critters for the first time and I loved it. A pity about the low score, but I rated it high, so 

Very good. But brick not hit back!

Yeah it is too low of a score.

It was one of the better little monster movies that came along after Gremlins was a huge success.

I gave it a 7/10
