Watched this for the first time after Wolf of Wall Street

Since Color of Money is often looked as one of Scorsese's weakest, decided to give it a watch.Loved it.I havnt seen The Hustler, but this movie stood on its own right. And oh,was a zillion times better than that 3 hours of torture called WOWS.

Beautiful movie!

Hadn't heard anyone call this one of Scorsese's 'weakest', but if so, after 5 decades of directing one iconic movie after another, I don't think he has anything to be worried about.

Color of Money has flaws like many movies...but it is ultimately watchable and enjoyable, and acts as a worthy bookend to yet another iconic movie The Hustler.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

reply

Agreed. Not weakest at all.I would though place WOWS at the bottom of the list of Marty's movie, just didnt work for me.

Color of Money deserves atleast a 7.5,was enjoyable and very well paced.Cinematography was clean and fluid.Paul Newman and Tom Cruise acted really well, and i liked the perfect chemistry in between them,no overacting.

Looking forward to watching After Hours, another of his movies which i have missed over the years.

Hope you enjyed After Hours. That movies is a real little gem.

And it's great to see that Scorsese's latest work, while much more slick and (in my opinion, overrated) accessible, is drawing attention back to some of his lesser-known work.

The hustler with a young Newman was fantastic. Gleeson was great in it as well. Much better then color of money. Yet Newman won for it and did not win in the hustler.

The real raging bull was in the hustler. The hustler had a great over all cast as well.i never get tired of watching it.

I'm a big Scorsese fan, but his new films are seriously overrated.

As for The Color of Money, it's a very good film in its own right and superbly acted. I f'n love it.

What do you think the teacher's gonna look like this year?
