book vs. movie

I just finished reading the novel and it was very good! I'm surprised no one has discussed it yet on the board. It's quite interesting, the film has almost nothing to do with the book it's based on. However, both are equally great. Has anyone on here read the book? Eddie meets up once again with Minnesota Fats and there is no Vincent character whatsoever. What I found most interesting is that both the film and book focus on Eddie's re-immersion into the world of pool in two totally different ways. It was fun coming upon passages and parts in the book that actually were integrated into the movie, such as "Two Brothers and a Stranger." Nonetheless, both film and book were great! Highly recommended.

Yes, I read the book. The book is by far better than the movie. In the movie they just added Tom Cruise to make $$. I wish they had stayed true to the book.

It's a close call but I think I prefer the book more. In the film there seems to be very little of the old Fast Eddie Felson left and there's no charm carried on from the Hustler. Whereas in the book the Color Of Money he's pretty much the same character and has barely learnt anything when it starts off. He's not the suave old school hustler like in the start of The Color Of Money film.

And whats her role in the book compared to the film?
