What the heck was Ayala's mother wearing? Couldn't they have her wearing something that didn't look like she got it at the store?

Didn't it seem like she just dove right in the fissure as opposed to fall?

It's a limitation of the production. Because of the rushed nature of the film there wasn't a whole lot of thought and care put into every detail. That, and Ayla's mother was supposed to be from a more "advanced" tribe/species of man that probably had better stitching and clothes making techniques.
