Another 80's movie with killer/security robots?

You guys seem pretty knowledgable about 80's slasher/b-movies, so was hoping you could help me remember the name of the movie I'm about to describe. It was probably a direct to video release:

I only saw the first 5 minutes or so of this on HBO or Showtime one night (it was around 1990, so had to be a late 80's flick). The movie starts out with what looked like a commercial for some security robot system. You see one or more crooks breaking into a house, and then they are quickly dispatched in brutal fashion by one or more security robots. It was like something right out of Robocop. I seem to recall the robots being able to speak like the killbots in Chopping Mall, but this movie was NOT Chopping Mall. I had already seen Chopping Mall prior to that time :)

I can only imagine that something happens to the robots in this movie to make them start killing people, but I'm not sure if this was the actual plot or not.
