looking for similar movie

i really liked this movie and have seen it more than a few times..i am looking for a movie with a similar theme.. i saw this movie a long long time ago (incompletely ) but dint catch the name..

from what i remember of the story..
basic plot is same here too..guy falls in love with hearing impaired girl..
guy is not well off..struggling musician i think....doesnt not know sign language..after seeing girl in a telephone booth (not sure) is smitten and tries to get to know her..but soon realizes that she cant hear..so starts learning sign language..
girl is a teacher in a school for the hearing impaired..
girls mother is against such a union..drama ensues..
for some reason i thot the movie was british..i cud be wrong abt this..
the end has something to do with a live show and lights..

hope that was helpful

it wud be great if someone could tell me the title..

Yeah I saw it many years ago when I was just a kid. I really liked it and would love to see it again, but I checked Amazon and even a used VHS of the movie is going for like $70!! I might have to wait and see if it comes out on DVD or something. Thanks for reminding me of this movie though:-)

It was helpful, but please don't call Deaf people heaing impaired. They can't stand being called that. I am hearing, but studying Sign Language and I know many Deaf people.

I wear 2 hearing aids. I AM hearing-impaired. I don't mind being called that. As for deaf people. That would be interesting to ask at the next ASL Social we have on the first Wednesday of the month here.

Eight divided by one-half equals four squared!
