Question about the Love Scene in the Pool

What do people think was the timeline for Marlee Matlin and William Hurt characters their first night together?

Hurt goes to visit her swimming in the pool (presumably late at night). He eventually falls into the pool and the two of them surrender to their feelings for one another, making love quite passionately. It's a very romantic scene--sensual and tender all at the same time (the characters clearly had a lot of pent-up feelings for one another, and in fact Matlin and Hurt started dating during filimg)

The next thing we see, the Program Director is arriving at work in the early morning and sees the William Hurt character dashing out of the pool to his car clutching some clothes. The next scene, Hurt is summoned to the Program Director's Office to find his shoe that he had left on the pool prominently left on the Program Director's desk.

Do we think that the Matlin and Hurt characters are supposed to have made love in the pool the entire night until morning, when they realized that they had to scurry out of there in a hurry? Or do people think that they had sex, then fell asleep outside the pool, and subsequently had to scurry out?

Bump.

Maybe when he visited her at the pool it wasn't at night. When he opened the door to the pool area, there was a light (possibly daylight) shining through the doorway.

Thats my only assumption. I am probably wrong haha.

And keep in mind that Marlee Matlin just wrote in her tell-all book that sex with William Hurt was "fantastic."

Lucky woman. He was hot.

Their chemistry was phenomenal. Maybe the best I've seen since The English Patient.

I see that a LOT in forums. Could you tell me what is means, please?

Bump.

Eight divided by one-half equals four squared!

You're probably long gone, but "bump" means the OP wants to keep their thread up near the top of the discussion threads. If no one responds, the thread can get lost way down the list on page umpty ump as folks respond to other threads. Then, no one sees it to respond. So the OP "bumped" it to the top again by responding to their own post.

my god its full of stars

"Long gone"? - No, it's only been 8 years. I am still alive and kicking.

Ah. Respond to their own post to move it closer to the top. Got it. Thank you VERY much, Rizdek.

I'm sure the quote that you use as a tagline is from Space Odyssey, but who said it, and when in the movie?
