For those who like this movie I'd suggest the rather similar movie......

I love this film, and so I thought for those of you who enjoy it as well, that I'd suggest a movie that's pretty similar(At least in my opinion)...though just to let you know, it doesn't have fantasy elements but it still feels pretty similar--the film is a TV movie (and a shockingly good one at that)titled "What The Deaf Man Heard" and it starts out in the late 1940's when a single mother is moving her and her 10 year old son Sammy to a neww town in order to start a new life.They get on a cross country bus fully intending to reach their destination, but halfway through the trip the boy's mother is raped and killed. This causes Sammy to withdraw from the world at first, as he is extremely frightened and remembering the last words his mother said to him "I don't want to hear another word out of you,not one more more word" and he ends up acting as if he's deaf and mute. The majority of the town takes this in stride rather well and he even makes some best friends one being a black man (James Earl Jones) who is a trash collecter, and a girl that he has loved ever since he first saw her, But there are clues that begin to make her question wether his being deaf and mute are true.
