Could someone please tell me...?

I LOVE this film, own the VHS & watch it every time it comes on Directv. I'm dying to know what kind of fruit "Renni" is eating in the picnic scene with Alex (aka "Jessica") where she "bares her soul" & reveals that she loved all her now-departed rich husbands.

Also, I LOVE the theme song, but it looks like there's no "album" available. Is there any chance of getting a legitimate recording of the theme?

Obviously not a kiwi - they're green on the inside, with brown fuzz on the outside. Obviously not a mango - they're somewhat larger than what she had in her hand and they are more of a deep-yellow/orange color.

What "Renni" was eating was a deep purple color with a somewhat light, yellowish color flesh like a plum. (I just caught today's airing and froze the images on my DVR when that scene came up.)

However, a mangosteen is a good guess - http://www.foodsubs.com/Photos/mangosteen.jpg That's definitely what it looked like on the outside, especially the stem. But the inside - http://www.fruit4ahealthieru.com/images/2003_9_mangosteen.jpg - didn't seem to look like that.

According to Wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mangosteen ), they are grown and sold in Hawaii (where Alex and Catherine met). However, when the outer shell is first opened, they can produce a dark, inky juice that may stain clothes or skin. I didn't see any dark juices like that when Theresa Russell was eating the fruit. So, my best guess -- the whole fruits were mangosteens (for props), but what she was eating was probably a plum.

They are mangosteen. The black juice you're talking about isn't very "juicy", it's produced by the shell, you'd have to rub it on your clothes to make stains.
They grow in tropical Africa as well.

Mangosteens are also grown in The Phillipines and have been used for many years as a medicinal tonic. Xango Mangosteen is now the rage in holistic health circles as being a curative agent for many varied conditions and diseases.

I always thought they were figs.
