In just about every scene between the two women...

It seriously looks like they are going to go at it at any moment (sexually, I mean). Yet I didn't get the impression that either of them were in to women or anything. Bizarre and a good, subtle creation of tension. In my opinion, anyway.

Yes,that overtone was there. When Winger walks up to the projection of the slides and puts her body up against Russell's image. It's very clear obsession is involved.
........Spoiler......

And when Russell saves Winger with the oxygen, when she could have let her die is also very telling.

What about when Theresa Russell kisses her?

reply

She kissed her to deliver a clear warning message, nothing else. Winger gives her a telling "Black Widow" brooch and Russell clearly gets the message in that Winger knows she "mates then kills" like the spider. So by kissing her on the lips (more intimate than on the cheek), after grabbing her head and pulling her towards her in a deliberate manner she's clearly trying to instil fear into her - watch your back kind of thing.

Did anyone else try to see that as something like "here's a kiss, now back off, please"? I saw the spidey woman scared but still confident in her seducing powers. She wanted the other to fall for her and get off her case as a favor of the heart. So she concocted that silly show of affection, completely underestimating the fresh field agent.

This is my silly theory, however I don't know what to make of the kiss otherwise.
