Dennis Hopper

Anyone else think Dennis Hopper was underused in this?

reply

I totally agree. He's one of my favorite actors, and his appearance here was all too brief. The Southern accent he used in this film, however, was rather hammy.

reply

No, this was an ensemble cast, with quite a few very respected actors who frequently get larger parts. Consider it a rather large cameo.

Have another bite of popcorn and forget about it.

Yeah, there are lot of stars in this one, lots of cameos. What a film!

Ya think? He was in it for what, 5 minutes?

I'm happiest...in the saddle.

I am confused.....when was Dennis Hopper in this? Crap, how did I miss that?

He is the first husband shown that she kills in TX.

And he is in the film for less than 5 minutes.

Looking at his Imdb 1987 looked like a lean year for him so I guess he was just happy to play a small role. Not really any way they could've used him more is to show a lot more of that marriage but was no real need to within the story. Unless they swapped Dennis Hoppers role with Terry O'Quinns role not really sure what else they could've done. I like both those actors though. Agree Dennis was underused also.

This straight up pissed me off. Imdb has him listed as the 4th billed actor when he should be close to the bottom...like he was in the actual movie credits. If you plan on buying this film for Hopper, don't. Look the movie up on youtube or an online movie site and watch his one 2 minute scene at the beginning of the movie.

Dennis Hopper was barely out of his drug addiction years in 1987. He was still pretty much a pariah in Hollywood given his decades of crazy, unreliable behavior. I suspect his appearance here is his old friend Bob Rafelson helping him prove his renewed reliability.

Absolutely, this was cast and filmed before the release of "Blue Velvet" and "Hoosiers" which brought Hopper back in a big way and got the big offers flooding in.

After 'Apocalypse Now' he was practically persona non grata in Hollywood until those 2 movies brought him back into the mainstream
