Have you seen this movie….?

If not you should. I would like to hear your opinion…

I bought it from a flea market not long ago. At times it seemed like a horror movie when you would see Christopher Walken slipping out of the dark. There's just something about his eyes that could give you nightmares. All the twists 'n turns throughout made it even more better. It wasn't cliched like most films are. Last but not least Sean Penn is one of the greatest actors there is. Plus, he does an excellent job at crying.

It so chilling given that it is based on a true story.

I saw it when it came out and remember the lukewarm response from critics. It wasn't a box office smash but it made some money. It was quite dark, but that was a common thing in 80s cinema despite the rosy-tinted nostalgia the current media plays up about that decade to be (a la "Back to the Future", "E.T." and John Hughes movies).

Chris Walken should have in very least received an Oscar nomination but didn't and I think the studios moved away from this type of filmmaking about teens save for "River's Edge" (1986) which has the same tone, but again not heavily promoted as a drama but more like a schlocky teen caper if you look up the old trailers for it.

I greatly enjoy Walken in everything, the man is a gem. I hope he got some sort of award for this crazy/creepy performance. He’s simply great!

One the good old 0-10 scale, I rate it 8. It had its points!!!

I liked it. SPECIAL NOTE: It is based on the true story of the Johnston crime family in Pennsylvania during the late seventies.

Good movie. Bit of a downer but the acting is excellent.

Very dark, heavy, and powerful. One of the best dramas of the '80s. And it has one of those endings that upon first viewing, it's like what the fuck, really, that's it?? But then on repeated viewings it becomes more and more
fitting and powerful. And despite anything that he's become now, there's no doubt that Sean Penn is an acting god.
