Stupid characters make movies hard to watch

I realize that when you're talking about hayseed gangsters you're not exactly working with atom-splitting IQs, but the scene where the moronic kid breaks the store window to steal the cardboard woman and gets them caught by the cops just makes me groan.

It's a great movie, but all gangster movies are cursed with a few absolute morons who make me want to throw things at the screen. It's as bad as a horror movie where the girl does exactly what she's not supposed to do.

I just watched this on AMC--first time I have ever seen it. I was impressed by it. Very gritty with some scenes that definitely took me by surprise. The acting was terrific.

As for the kid with the cardboard girl, he was a teenager. Teens do stupid things. That part seemed pretty realistic to me.
