Question

Why were those orphans bullying Fievel?

reply

Well, sad to say not all kids on the street would be kind to most of the others. Mainly, the idea to them that Fievel is looking for his family is laughable. My guess is they may have had that mindset in their youth, but overtime, they thought that their family either gave up looking for them or just didn't care.

But it's also a dramatic plot setup, because nothing draws out sympathy than seeing the little guy just being picked on and bullied. You have to, in entertainment, get down to such a low that when the 'high' comes, you're uplifted. There's a great amount of believability in Fievel's voice when he hears his father's voice and excitedly shouts: 'POPPA!'

When I saw the reunion scene, I was a little worried of one thing- What if those mean orphans interrupted in and yelled "Didn't we tell you to forget about them? You're one of us now, why rejoin them?"

reply

If the mean orphans intervened on the reunion, Tony would probably beat them up! :D
