Does anyone know how they came up with that town ? I'm curious because I was born there. Back then it had a population of 100k, in 1885 most likely it was around 10-20k. It is a part of Ukraine now, it always was, but Ukraine was a part Russia, so they got it.
shareThey probably were looking for a poor city in eastern Europe that indicated the hardship the people had to go through and tried reshaped that to an extent to explain as to why the Mousewitz came to America.
It's speculation, but I wouldn't be surprise if that was the reason.
