After recalling this movie, I was wondering why were no dogs in this???

No, they don't. You're thinking of the sequel. In the scene where Fievel escapes from the sweatshop, you can hear dogs barking.

I actually thought for a second that the 'secret weapon' was a dog - until I saw the words on its side.
Would have made more sense IMHO but it was cute and a nice family tie-in.
