Remote pilot the dropship... *Spoilers*

Why didn't they just think of that from the start? I get that nobody wanted to go outside, but if Bishop would've volunteered they could've pull it off.

reply

What do you mean?

Bishop did volunteer to do that?

Or why did they wait until the the reactor become a massive bomb before coming up with this idea?

reply

The second one. It seems like such a simple idea for them to over look.

reply

Oh oh, deja vu!
Said something similar a couple of years back.

I remember having this discussion with you a while back wears is that thread still around or has it dropped off ?

reply

Dropped off.......until now it seems.

they did consider the option but the terminal was damaged
they hadnt even thought of the idea of going out there and remotely manually patching in until they discussed it as a group

This is from the script at IMSDb.com

RIPLEY
(to Hicks)
We need the other drop-ship. The
one on the Sulaco. We have to
bring it down on remote, somehow.

HUDSON
How? The transmitter was on the
APC. It's wasted.

RIPLEY
(pacing)
I don't care how! Think of a
way. Think of something.

HUDSON
Think of what? We're *beep*

RIPLEY
What about the colony transmitter?
That up-link tower down at the
other end. Why can't we use that?

BISHOP
I checked. The hard wiring
between here and there was severed
in the fighting.
