Were the colonists experimenting with the face-huggers?

I am confused about the lab scene showing the facehuggers. Were the colonists purposely experimenting with them on humans?

reply

I don't believe so. Looks more like they were either being preserved for shipment back to WY's BioWeapons division, or being dissected and explored on site for the same division.

They were studying them. I recall one or more of the colonists that searched the derelict ship was face-hugged. They brought him back to the colony and removed the Face-huggers, but he was killed in the process of removal. They were studying them and trying to find out what they were.

Of course they were. they'd managed to capture five huggers and put them in vessels to test them or store them. they weren't just trying to survive or wipe them out.

How the hell would they go about catching one of those little b******s ? How would they do it? In the words of Parker, "you don't dare kill it".

reply

Throw a big crate over it and then slide a metal plate under it!

There was some experimenting going on as they found a liquid which neutralized the acid so the FH couldn't just melt its way out of the stasis tube like one did to face plate of Kane's helmet in A1.
