Too 'mannered' and unreasonably in love with its own dialogue to work...

... made all the worse by the fact that this comes from a Mamet knockoff trying badly to impersonate the man himself by adapting his play! That the film continues after about 20mins is seemingly a consequence of runtime necessity and nothing more. If they're so smugly assured about their romantic entanglements, then tell me why I should care? I mean, could the lines be more trite, at times??????!:

"It's been a slice of heaven"

&

"I love making love with you"

... Ugh.

It's 'wordy' all right... Trouble is, it just doesn't possess the words! 2/10.

You gave me a glimpse of real life, then told me to carry on with falsity.

Your opinion sounds more like a desperate cry for attention.

This movie is a classic.

It had great dialogue if you understand what's going on.

"It's been a slice of heaven" - ...was sarcasm...nothing more.

"I love making love with you" - was a way for him to quickly cover up what he had said to hide his feelings for her.

I agree, still a great one, and as someone who did live way too many of my hours in the 80s on Division, as well as the other locations shown, it definately becomes a bit of a biography. I've moved from Chicago, and now watching it brings smiles just at the outdoor locations that were such a part of my life. Good stuff.

I was that age when this movie came out. It makes me feel young and energized every time I watch it.

"It's been a slice of heaven" was not sarcasm at all. It was her searching for something to say at a very awkward moment.
