there's an easiness about her...

was just sitting idling away time at the computer and Bob Segar managed to find it's way to the top of the shuffle. I stopped stunned by the memories of this film that flooded back from over 20 years ago, maybe it's a personal thing but this film transcends criticism for me - 2 hours later and I have just finished watching it for what must be the 30th time but first in 20 years.

As the credits rolled the eyes welled and I am struck by the connection I still have with this picture...it reminds me of a favourite album - it will always hold up to repetition because it will always strike a chord...which chord it hits depends on where you are in life at that point...that's what makes About Last Night...it really is special

I just couldn't agree with you more!
You described it beautifully.

Right there with you on that. Nicely written, by the way! I love this movie; it gives me hope.

I've always loved ALN (love the eighties and Brat Pack in general - so many memories!), and just to add a comment about what a touchstone this film is, I had a friend I met, long after high school and the 80s, went to different school than me, etc....and he's not really what I'd call a movie guy. Somehow this film came up n conversation, and - this is long before DVDs made it so easy to own films and shows - he said he and his wife owned a copy on tape. Now, he's a few years older than me. I thought about how much of a touchstone this film is for those of us who grew up in the 80s. And more so for couples it would seem. Maybe even more so the. The Breakfast Club. I'd say this and Pretty In Pink (never my favorite, although I don't hate it) take people who were in HS then, back the most, and hold a special place
