R.I.P.
Good bye, Anne, we'll miss you....you were SO great in this movie!!
shareI totally agree, DannX68. Every news cast announcing her death mentioned The Graduate and The Miracle Worker, but not my most favorite Bancroft movie, 84 Charing Cross Road. She was perfection in this role and really brought the book to life for me.
Anne Bancroft. 1931-2005 RIP

I love this movie - it was my first real exposure to Anne Bancroft. I also love her in "Home for the Holidays." She always played such strong, intelligent women. I'll miss her presence in what seems like a world of Jessica Alba's and Paris Hilton's these days.

Just saw this today and yes, Bancroft was absolutely amazing. Talk about nailing a part. What a great and totally underused actress she was, I wish we had more lead roles from her.
I love so many of her films, but I discoveredthis one about 8 years ago, And I never get tired of it. Both Anne and Anthony were truely wonderful!
shareExtraordinary woman - Superlative actress. We will not soon see the likes of this wondrous woman any time soon, I'm afraid.
R.I.P. Anne.
Anne Bancroft was a terrific actress, and this was one of her finest works. Ironically, many of her films, including this one, end with a freeze-fame of her face, which always brings tears to my eyes when I think of our tremendous loss.
shareAnyone who enjoyed her performance in this movie should check out one of my all-time favorite movies, "Garbo Talks". A wonderful character, beautifully portrayed in a lovely story.
I got a copy for my mom, and she watches it at least once a month.
