Watch To Live and Die in L.A. again, instead.
William Friedkin nailed it with that movie. It was filmed in the mid 80's and captured the mid 80's. From the neon, to the soundtrack, to the cars, and the men, Live and Die is a perfect action movie. 8 Million Ways to Die, filmed a year later, fails in each of those categories, even the cars. The soundtrack damn near ruined it and Hal Ashby, a fantastic director when doing personal films, did not have control of this movie and it shows. I'm sure most of the film's problems were due to Ashby's illness as this was his last movie. The trivia sections reads that he was booted after principal photography. While it's not a bad movie, I just kept thinking that I'd rather watch TLaDiLA.
