The Sandman

I always viewed The Sandman was more of a dangerously misguided individual with good intentions than a villain . Pathological altruism. His main goal was only to insure peace on Earth by making everyone sleep forever.

Of course his goal was extremely shortsighted, as various dangerous entities would have still surfaced like Vigo, and no one would be there to stop him.

Another thing, Egon spoke about Sandmen with such certainty as if at least one person had previously encountered one or more and recorded it in the past. This could imply maybe even Tobin himself, but that's merely conjecture on my part. The Sandman himself confirmed that there were many entities such as him. Judging from the fact that no other Sandmen appeared to rescue him in the subsequent years could imply the others viewed him as a renegade and disavowed him.

I have to agree with you! Your points are all very spot on. Im actually watching this episode as I type this lol I definitely dont consider the Sandman a villain, cause he is just trying to end all war!

Maybe. It's possible the Sandman doesn't understand that humans need to be awake for a certain amount of time to live. If everyone sleeps forever then they all die of dehydration and starvation within a week.

Green Goblin is great! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1L4ZuaVvaw

Hadn't considered the dehydration and starvation angle but yes, that's eminently logical as well.

Not a villain, but definitely a catastrophic level threat. The road to Hell is paved with good intentions. Definitely one of the more unique opponents Venkman and the boys faced
