J. Michael Straczynski on 'Russian About" (1991 BBS post)

Here's an old BBS (Bulletin Board System) post from Straczynski, way, WAY back in 1991.

http://web.archive.org/web/20010131065600/http://totse.com/en/media/radio_free_amerika/cthulhu.html

In it, Straczynski recalls the struggles in getting the episode "Russian About" approved by ABC. According to ABC, Straczynski was not allowed to reference occult terms like "Cathulhu" or "The Necronomicon", despite the fact that they are fictional. ABC claimed that the book was real and that it was written by an Arab guy. The book had to become "The Nameless Book".

However, they had NO problem referencing them in the Syndicated episode "The Collect Call of Cathulhu". This is why I prefer the Syndicated episodes of the show.
